BUKHANSAN Mountain (National Park)

National parks are very rarely within a city, and yet Bukhansan Mountain was designated as a the 15th national park of Korea in 1983.

The national park is like an ecological island because it’s totally surrounded by urban areas, but it still serves as green lungs for the urban environment.

It’s a popular natural park for over 20 million residents within the vicinity. It’s accessible from anywhere in the Metropolitan area thanks to the great road system.

With around five million visitors each year, it’s listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the “Most Visited National Park per Unit Area”.

Korea Furniture Museum

Korea Furniture Museum has 10 hanok structures and houses some 2,000 furniture pieces from the Joseon Dynasty.

Each piece of furniture is a work of art, something you won’t easily find in other places(public or private museums) around the city.

When leaders and famous people all over the world visit Seoul, many of them usually do visit the museum.

The museum is perhaps the largest best-kept secret in Seoul.

GILSANGSA Temple

GILSANGSA Temple is founded by Beopjeong, who was one of the most beloved  Buddhist leaders in Korea, and is where spent the last hours of his life.

The buildings originally belonged to a high-class restaurant named “Daewongak” by the end of 1980s but were donated to him by the owner, Kim Yeong-han (Buddhist name is Gilsangwha).

GYEONGBOKGUNG Palace

Gyeongbokgung Palace, or the Palace of Felicitous Blessing, was the main Palace of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910).

It contains many sites where historic occurred and is a place that has borne witness to modern-day Korea’s tragic histroy.

Excavation and restoration efforts to return the palace to its original continued to this day.

Now, it’s been 620 years since the palace founded.

Korean Stone Art Museum

Korean Stone Art Museum was opened in Seongbuk-dong, a beautiful district surrounded by Bugaksan Mountain and the Seoul City Wall to introduce the aesthetic beauty and significant cultural values of old Korean stone sculptures.

Ancient-stone artifacts, traditional embroideries, and modern Korean paintings are gathered here at the Korean Stone Art Museum, a place where Korea’s past and present coexist harmoniously.

The museum, consisting of six exhibition halls including an outdoor exhibition garden, is a place where tradition and modernism come together in harmony.

JEONGBEOBSA TEMPLE

The Jeongbeopsa Temple is the oldest temple in Seongbuk-dong, a beautiful district surrounded by Bugaksan Mountain and the Seoul City Wall.

Upon entering the grounds of this place, it is so quiet and peaceful that you can’t tell if you’re in the middle of Seoul.
There is a Maitreya in the main hall overlooking downtown Seoul.
